frankiekashwaddy.com is the senior of the group, dating back to pre-James Brown era
of bands with Wiliam “Bootsy” Collins. Collins was a major factor in
developing James Brown’s JB sound of the late 60s. Kash was the
drummer in Bootsy’s Pacesetters, which backed up James Brown on Ohio
dates in the late 60s. When Bootsy was offered the James Brown gig, he
brought over his entire band and they metamorphosed into the JBs. The
association lasted until 1971 when a new Collins band, the House Guests,
was being wooed by associates in George Clinton’s Parliament-
Funkadelic organization. Franky played drums in Funkadelic and in a
third Collins’ band The Strangers, before being signed to Warners
Brothers as part of Bootsy’s Rubber Band in 1974. Franky can be heard
on seminal funk masterpieces like Stretchin’Out In Bootsy’s Rubber
Band , Ahh…The Name Is Bootsy, Baby! and Bootsy? Player of The Year .
In ’78, Kash went over to George Clinton’s camp and also worked on a
number of side projects, with spinoffs The Horny Horns, Brides of
Funkenstein and Sly Fox before settling on a permanent association with
